Prior to downloading your new DAT file, please ensure that you are downloading the correct DAT for your version of the software. If you are not sure which version you are currently running, you can find out by going to the Help section of the software, and clicking on “About”.
What’s a update, versus and upgrade?

Updates
Unlike most software products, Virus protection is only as good as your last update. NAI discovers approximately 500 new viruses a month, therefore it is essential (to keep your computer as safe as possible) that you update on a regular basis. Updates, which are often called "DAT" or "virus definition" files are released frequently (every week) to protect against any new viruses. Your VirusScan "scan engine" uses these files.

You will find Updates in this section.

Upgrades
An upgrade is a "licensed revision" (for VirusScan this would be the Scan Engine version) or a "new" product release for our other software products. Eligibility for upgrades depends upon the type of license your company purchased and in some cases whether or not a Support Plan was purchased that includes the upgrades.
